Sean Tarjyoto is a Portland, Oregon actor best known for co-starring on Hulu’s Shrill as Angus, the beleaguered alt-weekly journalist who became a local favorite. On film, he appeared in Rachel Lambert’s Sometimes I Think About Dying, starring Daisy Ridley, which opened Sundance in person, and in Michael Sarnoski’s Pig, with a supporting role opposite Nicolas Cage.

He has also played a personal date coach on Portlandia, appeared on Grimm, American Vandal and Trinkets, and worked in commercials for Calvin Klein and Aviation Gin, plus a David Fincher spot with Rooney Mara shot at the New York Times.

Born in Macau and raised partly in Hong Kong, Sean grew up in Oregon, where he discovered improvisation and played Sister Mary Amnesia in Nunsense, Candy in Of Mice and Men, Elyot in Noël Coward’s Private Lives and a highly improvised Count Yousekevitch in Neil Simon’s Fools. He went on to train at The People’s Improv Theater in New York and earn a BA from NYU’s Gallatin School, where he appeared in the short Attack of the Clones. After graduating, lead roles in the award-winning shorts Mr. A, which shared the Student Academy Award for Best Narrative, and The Queen, which won Best of the Festival at Palm Springs ShortsFest, launched his screen career. He is now based in Portland, where he continues his Meisner training.
